To be clear and transparent, the vast majority of bodybuilders are doped with hormones. This is the hidden side of bodybuilding kept secret from the general public. Proteins and other dietary supplements serve only as a mask for practitioners and manufacturers to conceal and divert attention from the reality. Welcome to the dark side of bodybuilding!
Bodybuilding is the physical activity most contaminated by doping products of all. Doping and bodybuilding are intimately linked and no one can deny this truth. Bodybuilding aims to maximize muscle development, but the physiology of the human body has its limits. The use of analogous hormones breaks down all these barriers to allow virtually unlimited muscle hypertrophy and growth. After the backstage, we will truly enter the scene. The arsenal of bodybuilders is a veritable pharmacy: steroidal hormones, growth hormones, thyroid hormones as well as all kinds of drugs diverted from their medical use and used off-label. Classic bodybuilding is in a sense a true manipulation of the complex hormonal chemistry of the human body. If you think it's the magic of proteins that's responsible for all this, then you're mistaken. The secret is in the chemistry!
In medicine, drugs are used to treat pathologies, but in bodybuilding, they are used to induce them.
Reducing bodybuilding to a petty chemical aspect would be very damaging. Fortunately, there are "clean" athletes in the world of bodybuilding who deserve all our support and respect! They are the ones who give bodybuilding all its nobility. This discipline requires rigor and patience at the cost of many sacrifices. It is in this specific case of the natural path that the expression
"a sound mind in a sound body"
takes on its full meaning. Indeed, a harmonious and balanced physique is a reflection of good inner health, and healthy athletes understand this well. Developing one's musculature is not an easy task. One does not obtain a dream physique simply by playing around in the gym. It is a long and tedious anabolic process that requires full adherence to the principles and codes. One must master all the subtleties of a successful physical preparation in which
occupies a central place by adopting it as a true lifestyle. It is a perpetual alternation between Training and Nutrition according to a 50/50 Ratio to ensure continuous progress and constantly fuel the Destruction/Reconstruction equation. The training aims to injure the muscular tissue more or less specifically and the nutrition allows its repair by providing the necessary nutritional substances for a good reconstruction.
Above are the 2 pyramids of natural bodybuilding developed by Eric Helms. These pyramids define the foundations of a perfectly optimized muscle preparation that we will see in more detail in a new article. So you have understood! In bodybuilding, there are 2 paths: the natural path and the hormonal path. If you choose strength training as your main physical activity, then opt for the natural path, the path of health, life and true sacrifice!
Natural Bodybuilding | Hormonal Bodybuilding
Aim | Athletic | Aesthetic
Choice | Health/Life | Illness/Death
Muscle Development | Limited | Unlimited
Physical Preparation | 50% Training / 50% Nutrition | 90% Hormones / 10% (Training + Nutrition)
Federation | Strict anti-doping tests: blood, urine and lie detector* | Absence of Anti-doping Tests
*Among the anti-doping tests performed, the lie detector or polygraph test remains the most effective way to determine whether an athlete is doped or not. The limitation of blood and urine tests stems from the fact that a bodybuilder uses doping substances away from competitions. The substances can only be detected at the time of drug intake, which is highly unlikely in bodybuilding.
